A Philosophy of Reintegration
The Veteran Village Movement is a Veteran-centered effort to address Hopelessness before a life collapses into homelessness, addiction, isolation, or suicide.
A Veteran Village brings together a place to call home, meaningful work, personal responsibility, renewed purpose, belonging, and Veteran community. It creates an environment in which Veterans can regain stability, contribute their abilities, and take an active part in rebuilding their lives.
Veterans are not treated as helpless recipients. They are neighbors, workers, builders, mentors, and participants in a shared future.
The Problem Beneath the Problem
Before Homelessness Comes Hopelessness
The visible crisis is often preceded by a deeper loss: the loss of hope, purpose, belonging, connection, and the belief that one still has something worthwhile to contribute.
The Veteran Village Movement is not principally about managing homelessness after it occurs. It is about prevention and reintegration—helping Veterans rebuild purpose, responsibility, and community before Hopelessness becomes complete collapse.
The Veteran remains an active participant in that work. The Village provides the place, opportunity, structure, and community in which rebuilding can begin.

Work
Meaningful employment, training, enterprise, craftsmanship, and the opportunity to contribute.
Purpose
A renewed understanding that one’s abilities, experience, and life still matter.
Community
Veterans living and working among people who understand responsibility, service, and belonging.
These elements are designed to work together. Housing provides stability, but a Veteran Village goes further. It connects residence with productive participation, accountability, meaningful activity, and a community in which Veterans can both receive support and give something of value in return.
The Planned First Prototype
Claude Firth Veteran Village
Far West Texas · Near Fort Davis
Claude Firth Veteran Village is the planned first practical expression of the broader Veteran Village Movement.
The prototype is being planned around approximately 30 individual Veteran residences, together with a Command Center, workshops and Village enterprises, agriculture and greenhouse activity, community functions, resilient energy, and responsible water use and reclamation.
Each element supports the same purpose: connecting a place to live with meaningful work, responsibility, belonging, and the opportunity to contribute again.
Claude Firth Veteran Village is rooted in a particular place, but the underlying idea is larger. If the model works, the idea can travel.
